Full-stack TypeScript recipe platform with LLM-based import, custom image pipeline, and offline support — designed and shipped end-to-end.

Mise en Place is a personal recipe-management platform engineered for daily real-world cooking. Designed, built, and operated end-to-end using an AI-first, agentic development workflow, it eliminates the friction of typical recipe sites: intrusive ads, clutter, unstable internet in the kitchen, and unstructured ingredients.

Technical Highlights:

  • LLM Recipe Import: Converts arbitrary recipe URLs or raw unstructured text into cleanly formatted recipe data (ingredients, quantities, instructions, and preparation times) via OpenRouter.
  • Offline-First PWA: Powered by Service Workers and client-side caching so saved recipes remain instantly accessible even when cooking without Wi-Fi.
  • Custom Media Pipeline: Automated upload handling, responsive resizing, and WebP compression powered by Sharp.
  • Full-Stack Architecture: React 19 on Vite on the frontend, Express + Node.js backend, and SQLite with FTS5 for instant full-text search across recipes and ingredients.
